About Anna
Name: Anna Verena Adebisi (that last name was given to me at a shrine in Lagos when I was 11)
MC position: Vice President Talent Management
Date and Place of Birth: Friday, 13th of November, 1981 in Dinslaken/Germany
Hometown: Duisburg, Germany. Ruhrpott represent!!!
Nationalities (Other origins): German (Nigerian)
Languages: German, English, French, some Italian - interested in learning Yoruba, Pidgin English and anything Scandinavian
I ran for MC because: The thought both excited and scared me - for me that's always a sign that I am on to something worth pursuing.
Ideal internship destination: Nigeria would make a whole lot of sense : I could finally really get to know my grandfather's country, (attempt to) learn Yoruba (or at least manage to recognize it) and Pidgin, connect to my family down there, eat a lot of rice with chicken and spicy soups (heaven!). At the same time, it's a scary thought since I think that the country would get under my skin more than other places. The South Pacific (another region of the world I am really drawn to ...) would be emotionally safer in that sense. But then again ... I like turmoil!
Childhood ambition: writer, actress, bar maid (since my grandma told me that that would give me permission to stay up late)
Current ambition: What I want for my future? To be a published writer, a lot more traveling, to be with him, beautiful babies, simply being happy
I love: My family, him, chocolate, writing stories when the characters take on a life of their own, anything hot, laughing, my friends, dirty dancing (also with walls), my mood swings and uncontrollable emotions, rice, Phoenix, singing in church, Africa, the night, the South Pacific, home, spicy food, the United States, Christmas, genetics, not having to hold back, love, reading until the break of dawn and beyond
Favourite books: Anything I can lose myself in - Harry Potter, The Bible, a lot of pulp fiction (Danielle Steel, Michael Crichton, John Grisham), crime novels (Agatha Christie, Henning Mankell, Elizabeth George), the books I grew up with, steamy romance and historical fiction, books on the art of story-telling
Favourite movies: The Life of Brian, Jurassic Park, Independence Day, Speed, Disney movies, Love Actually, Zoolander, Titanic, Once We Were Warriors, Little Lord Fauntleroy, The Mummy Trilogy
The Anna way: "Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one is watching"
